Levels 1-3 Art and Thoughts
Thought I would share some images of the art style I've used for our group project. We've decided to go for a very dark and mysterious feel for the environment as it fits with our basic story outline. As the platform itself was fairly boring (plain black and white) I wanted to give the background a lot of small details and contrast to break the game down a bit but without over crowding it.
I've tried to put several focal points into the images to draw the users attention left to right of the screen as that is the route used to proceed through the game.
Once we have a full storyboard in place
I will be attempting to add story images into the background so as
the user proceeds through the game they will have a story to follow
via the background. The story should hopefully tie into why they are
in this mysterious world and how to get out. My only really concern
for the game at the moment is how long it will be as I don't wish to
over crowd the user with to much imagery in one level and if the
story is complex we may end up making the game a little long winded.
This is the main character you will be
playing throughout the game. I personally am not keen on using her at
the moment as for me she doesn't fit into the world or story we have
designed. But for now she will be used as our character but I'm
hoping we have time in the a future sprint to come up with something
a little more fitting for the environment . Maybe its just me who
feels this but I wont know till I get feedback from play testing the
game as were still in early stages.
